My piece means a lot to me. I am a video editor, so I went through all the footage I had and went and took snapshots of about 50 images using Final Cut Express. It was a long process but that was just the start! I got the idea of making a wall of images and went to work, let me just say it was harder than I thought it would be. I used Free Transform and Warp then used Overlay and Opacity to get it textured and fit into place with the tile wall.
Robert Benfer inspired me for this piece. He is a film-maker and does clay-mations. He started all of his work at age 16 and within that year he started his own business making film productions. He is well known in Texas where he resides and he has influenced my video editing and inspires me till this day, he is now 21 years old.
If my piece were created, it may inspire students too. Art comes in different shapes and sizes and no matter what art in any form will inspire at least one person. I would add more images to the final product and also add a box with this information: my inspiration and such. I think that other students should be able to add to the wall. I would only add this piece to the back of side of a few buildings and try not to overdue it.

How did you get the images to match the texture of the stones? That is way cool.

The overlay tool and opacity and a few other things do the trick!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks!
Wow nice job, I can understand why it took a long time to do.

The flow and dynamics of the images makes it very interesinting

Really like what you have achieved here, Jessica. What a great idea...to put photos on the individual blocks. It would give a sense of place, a sense of belonging, and it would undoubtedly bring the human element of college life to mind. I like the idea of going from dense collections of photos at the base of a building, to more and more sparsely and randomly placed photos. I'd like to actually see this done on campus.

Wow. That is an "A" for Awesome! That would be really cool to project the stills during a premiere party. For the love of film making...

The images have a shiny, glass-like quality. I can imagine them on metal or glass.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, good concept, supper execution. Jim
